Testimonials

Greg

“He was sort of like an angel from heaven… he gave us a sense of calm and peace with whatever outcome we were looking at.”

Pet Name: Zoe

Facing an aggressive, inoperable cancer diagnosis, Greg and his family were presented with only two extremes: expensive, high-risk surgery or immediate euthanasia. Dr. Blanchong stepped in, providing a consultation that Greg described as “one of the best family counseling sessions I’ve ever had”. He helped the family realize there was a space in between—hospice care—that allowed them to keep Zoe comfortable. This guidance resulted in weeks, if not months, of additional time with Zoe, where she still had a great quality of life. Dr. Blanchong helped them make a decision based on love, not fear.

Zohreh

“He had this very deep knowledge, but a big heart… [The] fear was removed, and I felt empowered to make choices.”

Pet Name: Lucy

After Lucy was diagnosed with an inoperable bladder tumor, Zohreh feared she only had a month left. Under Dr. Blanchong’s dedicated hospice care, which included coordinating with the primary vet, advanced medication advice, and teaching Zohreh how to administer fluids and pain relief, she got to spend an entire year with Lucy. Dr. Blanchong put the family at ease, performing a gentle exam and being open to including all caregivers and family members, even those in a different state.

Lisa

“He was on my lap. He was calm, he wasn’t in pain. He was at home. And that made all the difference in saying goodbye.”

Pet Name: Enzo

Lisa wanted to ensure her beloved pet, Enzo, did not suffer, noting that Dr. Blanchong said most people wait too long to choose euthanasia. Dr. Blanchong was available to talk in the middle of the night and spoke to the family as professionals, making a difficult conversation as easy as possible. Lisa appreciated that there was no pressure or additional stress to decide one way or the other. The entire experience of saying goodbye was set up by Dr. Blanchong so that Enzo could pass peacefully on his mother’s lap, in his home environment.

Dr. Debra Liu, DVM, Veterinary ICU

“He’s direct, he’s honest… You can be confident you made the right decision for your pet.”

Dr. Liu, who works in a veterinary ICU, refers clients to Dr. Blanchong when it’s determined the pet’s best interest is to be at home, comfortable, and surrounded by family. She highlights that Dr. Blanchong coaches the family, providing medical options and reasonable expectations , so that pet owners can make an informed, wise decision—one they will look back on confidently years later. His work focuses on both quality of life and quality of death.

Kurt & Melanie

“He was amazing, and he really helped the family through the process and the dog through the process.”

Kurt and Melanie, who own a pet health business in San Diego, sought a trusted partner to refer their thousands of customers to for end-of-life care for animals. They rely on QOL Veterinary as their trusted referral partner because Dr. Blanchong offers compassionate options like in-home care and video consultations, which reduce stress for pets like Melanie’s own aging Chihuahua, Sophie. They shared the story of a client whose dog had cancer and dementia; that client later reported that Dr. Blanchong was “amazing” and provided immense help to both the dog and the grieving family through the process.
